Ultima Alpha per il sistema operativo di casa Canonical che si presenta con discrete novità a corredo.
In tutte le precedenti pre-release di Hardy Heron era già stato implementato Xorg 7.3 ma ora lo sviluppo è continuato e l’autoconfigurazione è migliorata sensibilmente anche a fronte di un minimo file xorg.conf.

L’Alpha 6 porta con se una nuova utility per la modifica delle proprietà dello schermo e permette agli utenti di configurare dinamicamente la risoluzione, il refresh rate, la rotazione delle immagini ed anche un ipotetico secondo monitor.

Questa è una caratteristica molto utile a tutti i possessori di portatili che spesso fanno uso di queste opzioni dovendo collegare il loro laptop a proiettori, a monitor esterni o ad altri dispositivi esterni.

Il kernel incluso in questa per-release di Hardy Heron è un 2.6.24-8.14, basato sul 2.6.24.2.
Chi avesse seguito lo sviluppo di questo kernel in questi mesi come ha fatto il sottoscritto, potrà sicuramente confermare che sono stati fatti passi da gigante sia nel comparto dell’ hardware/drivers, sia sul fronte della sempre aperta questione del powersaving.

Da segnalare inoltre che il client VNC Vinagre è ora installato di default al posto di xvnc4viewer.
